The Future caps off a run of career milestones for Rateliff and the band, including a debut on “Saturday Night Live” in March featuring the premiere performance of “ Redemption,” written and featured in the film, Palmer, starring Justin Timberlake as well as an appearance on “CMT Crossroads” with country singer/songwriter Margo Price while Rateliff’s “Tiny Desk (Home) Concert” premiered on NPR Music. Additional production was added by musician, engineer and producer Elijah Thompson (Father John Misty, Richard Swift) while Jenny Lewis, Jess Wolfe (Lucius) and Amelia Meath (Sylvan Esso) contributed backing vocals. Recorded at Rateliff’s own Broken Creek Studio outside of Denver, The Future was produced by Bradley Cook (Bon Iver, Kevin Morby, The War on Drugs) and R.M.B.-the production trio of Rateliff, Patrick Meese (The Night Sweats) and James Barone (Beach House)-who were the team behind Rateliff’s acclaimed 2020 solo album, And It’s Still Alright. It’s hauntingly beautiful and he sings it with a world-weariness that wrenches the heart, even as the songs speak to hope and resilience. Tearing at the Seams is the latest Night Sweats record, while Nathaniel’s third solo effort, And It’s Still Alright, is a testament to surviving loss (his marriage and the death of Night Sweats’ record producer, Richard Swift) and retaining the strength to see beyond the pain. He set the Denver music scene on fire with a vision he told Rolling Stone was, “writing as if The Band and Sam & Dave had a band together.” Despite the huge acclaim he and the band now know - including top-tier gigs such as opening for the Rolling Stones -they are remaining in Denver, rooted and at home. Since then, the humble, hard-working Rateliffe, who left his hometown of Hermann, Missouri for Denver in 1998 with his best pal, Night Sweats bassist Joseph Pope III, has released not only a second, remarkable Night Sweats album, but solo work that, if possible, is even more gut-wrenchingly honest and introspective. So dynamic is this band and so raucous its performances, that following Rateliff’s first appearance in 2015 on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, none other than Paul McCartney phoned Fallon in amazement, wondering, “Who was that guy?” Fallon has said the band has an invitation for life. Rich in soul and stomping, brassy R&B-inflected rockers, Night Sweats music is propelled by Nathaniel’s raw, confessional songwriting and emotional, leave-it-all-on-the-stage singing. When we hosted Colorado’s own Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats in 2015, we knew this white-hot band was no fluke. ![]()

![]() ![]() It's a world of beige streets, simulated experiences, and intangible media where the scratchy and handmade are in fashion. Its mid-to-late-21st century is credible, designed and decorated with the understanding that every generation comes to value those parts of the past that they feel their culture has denied them. “Her” hits limited theaters on December 18 and moves into wider release in January.Spike Jonze’s new movie, Her, is a high-concept science fiction romance set against a gleaming cityscape (Shanghai, standing in for Los Angeles) and crammed with ideas about the future of artificial intelligence, social media, and gaming. For it not to feel synthetic, but to feel like hand-made, but still have an electricity to it, and also just to sort of play this sort of romance and love story and longing of Theodore.” “What Win and I started talking about in the beginning was just that we wanted the soundtrack to have this electricity to it, a current to it,” Jonze said, “but not to be electronic and not to…use synthesizers at all. True to the film’s mixture of near-future sci-fi (the Los Angeles depicted here feels like a natural extension of the technology-crazed present we inhabit now, sometimes nauseatingly so) with very real human emotions, the score’s pulsating rhythms feel like the creation of some artificial intelligence just now evolving into a more sentient, feeling being, i.e., one not unlike Samantha herself. It’s actually the last song in the end credits.” “Win and I started talking about the score about two years ago, and then it kinda seemed like the record sort of informed the soundtrack and the soundtrack informed the record a little bit, and there’s like a song on - the last one, “Supersymmetry” - that he wrote for the movie, but then it sort of became something else. “The was working on as they were working on this,” said Jonze of collaborating with the group on the film’s soundtrack. In addition to the film’s voiceover performances, “Her” also benefits aurally from a score by Grammy-winning Canadian rock band Arcade Fire, fronted by lead vocalist and songwriter Win Butler. The alien child was really fun to write.” “So that was a way of getting to be a fantasy video game maker. “I would love to make video games,” said Jonze after being asked whether he harbored any future ambitions in the gaming industry. “That’s actually Spike’s voice,” said producer Megan Ellison after being dragged onto the stage by her director during the Q&A (the credits list the voice actor behind the character as Adam Spiegel, Jonze’s birth name). “Her” may sound like something of a downer on paper, but the film succeeds partially on the strength of its lighter moments, including the incorporation of a hilariously foul-mouthed video-game character dubbed the “alien child” (designed by Irish animator David O’Reilly) that becomes a recurring presence in the film. This is gonna be harder than I thought it was gonna be.'” And I think it was at that point she was like, ‘Oh, OK, this is gonna be hard. “Like we are…we learn those, we learn self-doubts and we learn those things. “When first started working on it together - I was in New York and she came over and we read a bunch of the scenes - one of the things I was saying to her was that when Samantha’s created, she doesn’t have any fears or doubts or insecurities or baggage,” Jonze said. Stepping in for Morton during the post-production process was Scarlett Johansson, who was initially daunted by the challenge of creating a character that begins the film as a neurosis-free computer-generated voice - initiated to be a companion for Phoenix’s lonely soon-to-be-divorcee Theodore Twombly - who gradually comes to feel the weight of real human emotions. And then when we got into editing, we realized that what Samantha and I had done together wasn’t working for what the character needed, and so we ended up having to recast at that point in time.” “So Samantha was really involved in giving Joaquin a lot…to work from. “When we shot, we initially had cast Samantha Morton ,” Jonze said at a Q&A following Wednesday night’s AFI Fest screening of the film. Luckily for Spike Jonze, “Samantha” is actually a computer operating system – i.e. HOLLYWOOD – Unfortunately for Spike Jonze, the pivotal role of “Samantha” in his new sci-fi tinged romantic drama “Her” had to be recast after the film was already in the can. ![]() ![]() You are left with no choice but to wage war on Nex and take back the Ultimate Nether Orb so that it will not be used for ill purposes. Don't you think there is something wrong at the PBXnSIP side? However it doesn't matter if you click any number, nothing happens, the auto attendant keeps talking and talking.ĥ) The PBXnSIP can not register with CallWithUS and other providers we have. Now with the CISO ASA box, with all the ports required correctly open, no MEDIA is transfered between PBXnSIP server and rest of extensions.Ĥ) If you call from outside (using a regular phone line) to our number, our PBXnSIP auto attendant answers correctly and you can hear all the different options you can dial. I can understand a FIREWALL problem if this was happening from an outsider extension trying to register to our internal PBXnSIP server, but the issue is internally!!!!Īnother thing that I don't understand is that when the PBXnSIP was under DMZ with the former router everything was working great. I would understand ports problems with outgoing and incoming calls, but what about internal calls? Why when one internal extension calls to another one, there is no sound? The phones ring, but no sound.ġ) All the SIP phones (internal extensions) register correctly to the PBX server (a computer in the same LAN)Ģ) All SIP phones (internal extensions) can ring to others (you can hear the ringing sound)ģ) When an extension calls to another one and this one answers, you can see the time ticking (so the call is taking place), BUT NO SOUND (the media ports?) We opened and forwarded the ports to the PBX IP as shown above. ![]() The PBX server is connected to the ASA box, and we are not setting any DMZ to it. Now we have installed an ADSL bridge modem and a CISCO ASA 5500 box hooked to it. We have a public static IP where we used to set the PBX under DMZ before we switched to the CISCO ASA (we used to use a WAG Linksys regular router). Is the PBX still running on a public IP address (routable, in the DMZ)? Maybe there something went wrong during the migration. This would mean that you dont have to explicitly set them up IMHO. AFAIK the ATA monitors the traffic and then makes a decision which ports should be opened for RTP. I first guess is that the ATA has problems detecting what ports should be open. There are no errors on the Call Logs in the PBXnSIP software.īefore we used to have the server under DMZ, but now we can not, so we have to set the ports manually.ĭo you think this is a PORTS issue? Any recommendation? In the CISCO box we already created the following Access Rules:Īnd the same were used to create NAT rules too. Also if you call from outside, you can hear the auto attendant, but when you dial any of the options offered, nothing happens, it keeps talking. ![]() All the extensions are successfully registered on PBXnSIP domain panel, and when dialing you can hear the destination extension ringing, but when somebody picks up the phone, no sound, however the call is counting the time as if we were talking. Everything is working except the fact that we have no sound when we dial to any internal extension our outside destination. We have replaced the router by a CISCO ASA 5500 box. Our PBXnSIP server has been working pretty good for more than one year so far, installed in a very stable Linux server and under DMZ in a home use Linksys WAG router. ![]() ![]() Quickly join multiple video clips into one.Free to use, and works on low-specs notebooks and desktop PCs.If you love the chic templates and stylish effects offered in Splice, Photos Video Editor falls short of such needs. ![]() If you use Splice on your iPhone to join clips together, the Photos Video Editor app does that perfectly.
